MP3 is a lossy (as they usually call it) format and FLAC is *lossless* codec. This means one can transform the music in FLAC into ANY other format without any quality loss. Just like with WAV files (uncompressed PCM), but takes about twice less disk space. : : I perfectly understand the situation with MP3 forman (it is definitely the most popular), but it would be just nice to change that situation by showing people the newer and the better alternatives. : : So if you have an ability to publish your music in FLAC (if you need lossless encoding) or in Ogg Vorbis (if you need lossy encoding), it would be very good. :) I'll look forward to that :) : : |
