: : I was actually talking about FLAC as an alternative to WAV, not MP3. MP3 is a lossy (as they usually call it) format and FLAC is *lossless* codec. This means one can transform the music in FLAC into ANY other format without any quality loss. Just like with WAV files (uncompressed PCM), but takes about twice less disk space.
